The VERA SMC has been in touch with the Ride Organisers of the Mia Mia ride to see if the ride is able to continue after the recent storm damage that has affected parts of Victoria.

Ken and Jenny will be checking the track today to see whether it is accessible and safe to use. A decision will be made within the next day or so as to whether this ride can continue and will be posted here and on the website.

On behalf of Sioux Reid and her crew of hard workers the SMC is disappointed to announce that the Moyston ride will not be proceeding on the weekend of 12-14 June due to the current level of Covid restrictions in force as well as the uncertainty about what will happen in the next week or so. While there has been some easing it is insufficient to be able to run this event in a safe environment and without risking the health of attendees.

The SMC and Sioux are working towards offering the event on an alternative weekend and a notification will be posted as soon as possible in regards to a re-scheduled date.

The SMC would like to extend its thanks to Sioux for having the enthusiasm to re-schedule the event so that you can all still come along and enjoy the great tracks that Moyston offers. Stay tuned and, as always, please stay safe in this uncertain times we face here in Victoria.

The coming week is National Volunteer's Week in Australia. VERA would like to encourage all to post a thank you to the volunteers who make our sport possible. Our rides are run totally by volunteers who give their time freely to organise and run the rides that we all enjoy.

The SMC would like to express our deep gratitude to all our volunteers including our Ride Organisers, track markers, checkpoint people, TPRs, Chief Stewards, pencillers, ride secretaries, date entry people, track markers, weighing stewards, swabbing steward, FB Moderators, Web Master, Logbook Registrar, Membership Registrar, Pointscore Registrar, Grievance Officer, Disciplinary Panel members, emergency float drivers and anyone else who contributes to our events.

And, on behalf of the members, I'd like to express my thanks to the SMC members, both past and current, who manage the sport and put in a lot of hard yards that are often unseen.

In light of the State Government’s decision to head into lockdown the Ride Organisers have decided to cancel the Eldorado ride. There had been a lot of work expended to date on pulling the ride together. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone associated with the ride and we all share the disappointment of not catching up with our endurance family.

Stay safe during the lockdown and adhere to the restrictions.

The next VERA SMC meeting will be held on 20 February 2021. This was originally planned as a face-to-face meeting at Quest Caroline Springs but this has now been modified to a virtual meeting. If anyone wishes to attend this meeting please contact the VERA Secretary, Mezcal Manners.
