VERA is run by a State Management Committee (SMC) elected at the AGM, plus a set of appointed roles that keep the club’s day-to-day operations running.
Elected Committee
President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and up to 10 Ordinary Members — elected for a 2-year term at the AGM. Nominations need two current members’ signatures and must reach the Secretary at least 28 days before the AGM.
Other committee-appointed roles
These don’t require being an elected committee member — any current financial member can be appointed:
- AERA Delegate — represents VERA at AERA meetings
- Membership Registrar — processes membership applications and cards
- Logbook Registrar — processes AERA horse logbook applications
- Point Score Registrar — maintains points and distance records for awards
- Calendar Coordinator — manages ride applications for the VERA calendar
- Horse Welfare Officer — monitors the Early Warning System and welfare reporting
- Insurance Officer — liaises with the AERA insurer on claims and paperwork
- Assets Officer — maintains the VERA assets register
- Webmaster / Facebook Moderator — maintains the website and social channels
