The VERA SMC is very happy to announce some additional rides on our calendar:

  • VERA Training Weekend - 14 & 15 March at Rosedale. 40, 20, 10 & 5 km on both days. This will be a no frills ride run by the VERA Committee with all profits going to the bushfire appeal.
  • Eldorado - 16 & 17 May 2020 at Eldorado. 100 elevator, 40 and 20 km.
  • Tallangatta Valley - 21 & 22 November 2020 at Tallangatta Valley. 40, 20 & 5 km on both days.

These rides will be added to the VERA Calendar soon and further details will be posted as they become available.  Many thanks to the Ride Organisers at Eldorado and Tallangatta for putting their hands up to get some more rides on our calendar.

As we head into the wind down for the year, with two more rides to go, the SMC is starting to get prepared for the AGM and Presentations. We are currently investigating a couple of venues at which to hold an afternoon AGM followed by a sit down meal and presentations.

Our Pointscore Officer, Caroline Noble, has asked that all current trophy holders return the trophies to Carl Adamson as soon as possible to allow the engraving of the trophies to be completed before the AGM/Presentations. The trophies must be with Carl by 1st December.

If anyone wishes to apply for the VERA Horse Lifetime Distance awards please complete the form available on the VERA website and send to Caroline either by email This email address is being protected from spambots. Late submission of the form may result in disappointment if the time frame is too short.

Please also note that the 2019 Tom Quilty results are included in the End of Year calculations as per previous motion passed. Details of the current results are available on the AERASpace website.

The SMC wishes to notify members and non-members that the VERA website will be offline for up to 30 minutes on the 1st of November between 9pm and 10pm. Upgrades to the website will be conducted during this time. We apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.

SAVE THE DATE: 18th January 2020 will be the day on which the AGM and Presentations will be held. Venues are being sourced at the moment. Stay tuned for further details as the SMC get the arrangements in place.

Due to a number of incidents where riders entering at rides have not been aware of the rules of the sport the SMC has had rule books printed. These will be handed out to all MEMBERS at forthcoming rides or will be posted to new Members when they join.

Please read the rule books and make yourself aware of the rules. We don't want to have riders not being able to enter their first 80km event because they haven't got a logbook or horses with logbooks being refused entry into any of the rides as a result of leaving the logbook at home.

For those people who are not members please go to the AERA website (www.aera.asn.au) and download a copy of the rules.

If at any time you have a query about any rules or the requirements for entry please either post the question on the VERA FB page (there will be other people who will have the same question as you) or contact the VERA President of Secretary - see the VERA website for contact details.

As a member you are responsible for knowing the rules so please help us to ensure you can enter the event you wish to by knowing the requirements for entry.

Thanks to Lyn Taylor for providing this suggestion to assist our members.
